England against Italy: The clash of two football power houses but who is ending their title drought?
So far, England has the best defence with just 1 goal conceded throughout the entire tournament but Italy has not lost a game since 33 matches. But both teams have been waiting to win the title since a very long time. In fact, England has never reached the final in their entire football history while Italy won the EURO last in 1968.
The final is played at Wembley, so England have home advantage and over 60,000 spectators are expected. Harry Kane with 4 goals so far, all scored in the play-offs and Raheem Sterling (3 goals) are still able to leapfrog Christiano Ronaldo (Portugal) and Patrik Schick, the current top scorers of the tournament.
So far, in 27 matches played between the two teams, Italy won 11, England won 8 and 8 times the match ended in a draw.
But we all know, that history does not matter after kick off. Past performance is no indication for future results. May the best team win!
Good luck to both! As spectators we hope we see an exciting game with spectacular goals.
Football is coming home. Wherever home is!
