Bitcoin launched in January 2009, at the height of the last major financial crisis. Satoshi Nakamoto wasn’t pleased with the financial situation at the time, so he created a completely new form of money: Bitcoin.
Bitcoin was created as a response to reckless government spending, bailouts and money printing. Bitcoin’s purpose is to serve as a decentralized alternative to the existing fiat money system. Now, we’re about to experience why this has been an important goal. Bitcoin is in a great environment today. The world still doesn’t understand what it is exactly. It is a monetary revolution and most people are still considering it a speculative fantasy. The general public will come to understand Bitcoin with time and is closer than ever to realizing what Bitcoin really is.
